The most common type of engraving is done on the inside of rings using an engraving machine. Engravings done on the inside of rings can be added at any time making it a wonderful surprise for a wedding day or anniversary.

What is the Style of Engravings?
Our designers selected a BUTLER Font for engraving. All rings on our site support the engraving service. The message engraved is limited to up to 30 characters, including letters, numbers, and spaces. Symbols and emoticons are not supported.

What is Laser Engraving?
As the name suggests, the use of a laser is involved in this style of engraving. In reality, a laser does not actually engrave your ring, engraving involves etching or carving. A laser actually burns your personal message onto the surface of the ring. So, the correct term should be “laser marking”, but most people refer to it as laser engraving and the name has stuck. Laser engraving can be done on any metal as well.

Will the Engraving Scratch off?
The Engraving on the inside of the ring will not wear away no matter what metal you choose, as long as you wear the ring on your finger. For the engraving to wear away, that would mean your skin is tougher than the metal, which is not possible. Wearing a ring on a necklace could rub away an engraving on a gold ring over time.

Why Laser Engraving is Easier to Read?
Laser engraving tends to be easier to read because the laser burns the metal, turning it darker, so it stands out more. However, that is not to say that traditional engraving is hard to read. Traditional engraving is carved into a ring, so depth makes it readable.

How many characters can fit on the inside of a ring?

The number of characters that can be engraved will depend on the finger size of the ring that is being engraved. Most rings can accommodate between 15 -30 characters (characters include letters, numbers and spaces. So for example “I Love You” is 8 letters, but actually 10 characters include the spaces).  Popular engraving messages include initials, anniversary dates, and loving sentiments but the message you choose is entirely up to you!
